The Incredible History!
The Incredible History!
O.W. Gurley was a prominent, yet little known, figure in Black History and American History, particularly for his role in establishing the thriving African American community of Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, during the early 20th century. Gurley, a successful entrepreneur and real estate developer, purchased land in Tulsa and created a segregated community where Black individuals could own businesses and homes without fear of racial discrimination. This area, known as Greenwood or "Black Wall Street," became a symbol of Black economic empowerment and cultural flourishing.
Gurley's visionary leadership and investment in Greenwood fostered a vibrant community that included flourishing businesses, schools, churches, and social organizations. However, Greenwood tragically fell victim to the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921, one of the most devastating episodes of racial violence in American history. Despite this tragedy, Gurley's legacy endures as a testament to the resilience and contributions of Black Americans, highlighting the importance of economic autonomy and community solidarity in the face of systemic racism.

How long does shipping take?
Most orders are produced and ship out in 2–4 business days and take another 4–6 days to arrive (often sooner). Every item is made to order, which takes a little extra time, but ensures quality, reduces waste, and saves water.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because each item is made to order, we're not able to accept returns or exchanges for things like your color or size choices. We don't carry inventory to swap out and we don't resell returns.
However, if there's ever an workmanship issue - like a misprint, wrong size sent, or anything defective - we'll make it right asap. Email us with clear photos and your order number.
How do I know what size to order?
Measure something you already own and love the fit of, then compare to our size chart on each product page. Our shirts generally run true to size — if you're between sizes or prefer a looser fit, sizing up is usually the way to go.
Can I use a discount code with a sale item?
Good news - a lot of our codes do stack! We have so many running at once that the easiest way to know is to add them at checkout and see what happens. If it works, you'll see it. If not, no worries - the best deal will still always apply!
A Genuine Black Owned Company
-
A Culture Vulture Free Zone
Look, we're all for inclusion and the diverse celebration of Black History. However, it has become increasingly common for NON Black-owned companies to sell Black Culture while also falsely claiming to be Black-owned. This practice of cultural appropriation is not only dishonest but also disrespectful to the Black community. By profiting off of Black culture without actually supporting or empowering Black-owned businesses, these companies perpetuate systemic inequality and contribute to the erasure of Black voices and perspectives. It is important for consumers to do their research and support authentic Black-owned businesses that prioritize social justice, equity, and circulation of the Black dollar; rather than those that simply capitalize on the latest cultural trends.
