The Incredible History!
The Incredible History!
The Harlem Hellfighters were an all-Black infantry regiment that served in World War I & II. Despite facing discrimination and segregation in the military, they became one of the most decorated units in the war. The Hellfighters spent more time in combat than any other American unit and never lost a trench to the enemy. Their bravery and sacrifice paved the way for future generations of African American soldiers and helped to challenge racial prejudices both in the military and in American society as a whole.
The Harlem Hellfighters, officially known as the 369th Infantry Regiment, was formed in 1916 in New York City. It was made up of black soldiers, many of whom were from Harlem, and was commanded by white officers. The regiment was initially designated for non-combat duties but was later sent to France in 1918 to fight on the front lines.
Upon their arrival in France, the Hellfighters were assigned to the French Army because the U.S. military did not want to integrate black soldiers into their forces. The French recognized the value of the Hellfighters and gave them their famous nickname, the "Men of Bronze," after their bravery in battle. The nickname "Hell-fighters" come from their German foes.
The Hellfighters fought in some of the bloodiest battles of the war, including the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and the Battle of Belleau Wood. They spent a total of 191 days on the front lines, longer than any other American unit in World War I. The regiment also never lost a trench to the enemy and received numerous awards and honors, including the Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honor from the French government.
Despite their heroic service, the Hellfighters faced racism and discrimination both in the military and upon their return home. However, their bravery and sacrifice helped to challenge racial prejudices in America and paved the way for future generations of African American soldiers.
Today, the Harlem Hellfighters are remembered as a symbol of black pride and military excellence. Their legacy continues to inspire and educate people about the contributions of African Americans to American history and the fight for equality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you Black-owned?
Yes. And it's great that you asked! TheBlackest Co. is proudly Black-owned and certified by the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders are produced and ship out in 2–4 business days and take another 4–6 days to arrive (often sooner). Every item is made to order, which takes a little extra time, but ensures quality, reduces waste, and saves water.
How do I know what size?
Measure something you already own and love the fit of, then compare to our size chart on each product page. Our shirts generally run true to size — if you're between sizes or prefer a looser fit, sizing up is usually the way to go.
Can I use discount codes with...?
Good news — a lot of our codes do stack! We have so many running at once that the easiest way to know is to add them at checkout and see what happens. If it works, you'll see it. If not, no worries — the best deal will still always apply!
Is this made to order?
Yup - just like a birthday cake! Every item is made to order, which takes a little extra time, but ensures quality, reduces waste, and saves water.
What's your return policy?
If there's ever a workmanship issue — like a misprint, wrong size sent, or anything defective — we'll make it right, free of charge, ASAP. Email us with clear photos and your order number.
Because each item is made to order, we're not able to accept returns or exchanges for size or color choices...or life's regrets. We don't carry inventory to swap out and we don't resell returns.

Soft and beautifully made displaying an unknown black history fact about us! My sons love them and we will certainly be back!
Hi Monica, thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate your support TheBlackest Co.
Great design on a comfortable t shirt.
I LOVE IT!! In these times of national protest, I prefer to show up wearing a little known (or not generally known at all) piece of history on my back. This shirt is the new one I shall wear with pride being a Marine Corp vet.
Thank you Augustin! Warms our heart getting that kind of feedback from a vet! Thank you for your service and thank you for your support TheBlackest Co.

Very nice quality and color.
Super soft. Somebody thought I was wearing a motorcycle shirt, so I had to correct him and tell him briefly who the ****-Fighters were.

A Genuine Black Owned Company
-
A Culture Vulture Free Zone
Look, we're all for inclusion and the diverse celebration of Black History. However, it has become increasingly common for NON Black-owned companies to sell Black Culture while also falsely claiming to be Black-owned. This practice of cultural appropriation is not only dishonest but also disrespectful to the Black community. By profiting off of Black culture without actually supporting or empowering Black-owned businesses, these companies perpetuate systemic inequality and contribute to the erasure of Black voices and perspectives. It is important for consumers to do their research and support authentic Black-owned businesses that prioritize social justice, equity, and circulation of the Black dollar; rather than those that simply capitalize on the latest cultural trends.
