The Incredable History!

Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton were the co-founders of the Black Panther Party (BPP), a revolutionary socialist organization that emerged in the 1960s to combat systemic racism and oppression against African Americans in the United States. Their partnership and leadership within the BPP had a profound impact on the civil rights movement, inspiring marginalized communities to organize for self-defense, social justice, and empowerment.

Bobby Seale was born on October 22, 1936, in Texas. He grew up in poverty and experienced racial discrimination firsthand. In 1966, Seale co-founded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense alongside Huey P. Newton in Oakland, California. Seale served as the Chairman of the BPP and was known for his charismatic leadership style and fiery rhetoric. He played a crucial role in shaping the party's ideology, which advocated for armed self-defense, community organizing, and socialist principles. Under Seale's leadership, the BPP implemented numerous social programs to address issues such as police brutality, poverty, and inadequate healthcare in African American communities.

Huey P. Newton was born on February 17, 1942, in Louisiana. Like Seale, Newton experienced racial injustice growing up and became deeply involved in activism during his college years. As the Minister of Defense of the BPP, Newton was instrumental in developing the party's Ten-Point Program, which outlined its demands for social, economic, and political equality. He also spearheaded the BPP's armed patrols, which monitored police activity to prevent brutality against African Americans. Newton's intellectual prowess and commitment to Black liberation made him a formidable leader within the civil rights movement.

Together, Seale and Newton propelled the Black Panther Party to national prominence, attracting thousands of members and supporters across the country. However, their activism also made them targets of government surveillance and repression. Both Seale and Newton faced multiple arrests and legal battles, including Newton's highly publicized trial for the death of a police officer in 1967. Despite these challenges, they remained steadfast in their commitment to the struggle for racial equality and continued to advocate for social change until their deaths.

  • A Culture Vulture Free Zone

Look, we're all for inclusion and the diverse celebration of Black History. However, it has become increasingly common for NON Black-owned companies to sell Black Culture while also falsely claiming to be Black-owned. This practice of cultural appropriation is not only dishonest but also disrespectful to the Black community. By profiting off of Black culture without actually supporting or empowering Black-owned businesses, these companies perpetuate systemic inequality and contribute to the erasure of Black voices and perspectives. It is important for consumers to do their research and support authentic Black-owned businesses that prioritize social justice, equity, and circulation of the Black dollar; rather than those that simply capitalize on the latest cultural trends.
