However, tragedy struck in 1921 with the racially motivated Tulsa Race Massacre. A white mob rampaged through Greenwood, devastating the district and displacing thousands. Despite this dark chapter, the resilience of the survivors and subsequent generations has kept the memory of Black Wall Street alive. Present-day initiatives to rebuild and rejuvenate Greenwood underscore the enduring spirit of community and economic empowerment in the face of adversity.
